245 '89 wagon.. sits unused outside for 4-6 weeks at a time then is used on weekends.. has been very reliable.. engine will 'gasp, or catch itself.. like it is fuel starved, then run ok.. then gasp is more severe.. it stopped.. wouldn't start.Local garage said it was a 'bad fuse'.. it ran fine for weeks.. now is starting the pattern again.. gasping.. and stalling..
I tried a 'fuel drier' solution in 1/4 tank of gas.. thinking that accumulated moisture may cause choking when gas is low.. the fuel drier and filling tank seemed to work.. for awhile but the problem is reappearing..
How do fuel pumps fail in these cars? gradually or 'on -off'? other thoughts?
thank you
