After nearly two months of sending carpet samples back and forth to the auto carpet company(s), the large number of available colors (200) is making selection of the best match more confusing than before this all started. Plus, I need to get my car on the road again asap, so getting a new carpet into it is long overdue. The old carpet is in too poor of a shape to put it back in, not to mention the time it requires to do the job.
My 240 wagon has the tan carpet (aka beige). If anyone reading this post has ever done business with Auto Custom Carpets or Automat, and you have purchased a replacement color for the OEM Volvo beige color, what color did you end up choosing, and are you satisfied it is a reasonably good match? These companies only send two or three small swatches, then expect you to make a choice. The colors as seen on their website are very much off the mark from the actual samples arriving in the mail.
So far, I have narrowed it down to either MEDIUM SADDLE or possibly SANDALWOOD color. Is there another color that is yet closer to the original? Unfortunately, the original color carpet is no longer available... :-(
Once an order is placed, these carpet suppliers manufacture a molded carpet especially to fit, so returning a poor color match is not an option. And, finding an unfaded original tan carpet from a salvage car is all but impossible after more than 14 years. And, I really have no more time to search the USA for an original in great shape.
So, doing one's homework before placing an order is a wise move. That's what I'm doing. Thanks for any advice you can offer to help making a final choice on replacement carpet. Daryl
