Engine noise after overheating 900

My 93 940 turbo wagon (240K) lost most of her coolant a few weeks ago due to a leaking turbo cooling hose. We drove a few miles with the temperature guage pegged before we could get to a place to pull off the road, plug the leak and add coolant. I replaced the molded hoses from the ccolant reservoir to the turbo and radiator and since then the car has been running fine. This week, she developed a grinding/rattling sound from the engine. The noise is worse when the engine is warm. However, she runs fine with plenty of power and boost.
I'm a little worried that I fried the turbo, but I believe there would be other symptoms besides the noise. Might be as simple as a water pump.

Thoughts? Diagnostics?
