In tank pump replacement

It's been years since I replaced an in tank pump on my 85 240 so I am a bit rusty. I seem to remember there was a hose(s) that had sort of a push on connection that I could not remove or if I did get it off I couldn't properly reattach it. Have any of you dealt with this and how did you get it back on tight?

Also, can I replace the small hose on the fuel pump without removing the other hoses?
