Did the Tach and Small clock upgrade Tach seems to be reading low???? 200 1992

Hi all,
I had a tach and small clock from another 240 that's been put to rest, so I thought I'd add it in my 92 wagon. It seems to not reading the RPMs correctly. I know it plugs in the big clock area, and the white/red wire gets hooked to it, is there anything I'm missing? Is there an adjustment on them?
It reads RPMs just seems to be off, can't believe I'm under 3k @ 80 plus miles an hour.
