Idle Speed, Blow-By and Crankcase Pressure 900 1993

I just had my rear main seal replaced on my 93 940T and I am concerned that the underlying problem still hasn't been corrected.

At idle I have a good bit of blow-by based on the tea kettle test (and oil splatter on top of valve cover). If I goose the throttle, there is better vacuum and the cap rests in place as it should. I have been through the ventilation system and so has my mechanic and there are no apparent obstructions. I suppose it could be my rings, but I only have 120K on the engine and I have kept the oil and filter changed on schedule, at least since I have owned it for the past 10 years and 40K miles.

What is the proper idle speed for my engine? Does the ventilation system function properly at low idle? My engine has started to "stumble" or miss periodically while idling as well. Any ideas?

Thanks.
