Boom Boom! Out go the lights! 200 1989

Last night I was driving home & had to brake very suddenly to avoid a coyote in the road. After it ran off, I hit the gas & suddenly my headlights went out while I was driving. My instrument panel lights stayed on. I flicked the lights on & off several times, but the headlights stayed off until I hit a slight bump in the road, at which time they came back on. They stayed on for the remainder of the drive home, but I kept the hazards on, just in case.

Now this sounds like a loose wire or connection somewhere to me, but I'm asking here because last week I encountered a problem with my right rear light. The connection there is loose & I have to fiddle with it every time I start the car to make sure that it works.

Could the problem with the lights be indicative of a more serious problem? Or have I just been hit with two loose connections & not worry about the rest of it?

Thanks for all your help, folks!
