I have an '88 765 Turbo that has been suffering from very persistent idle issues. When in Neutral, the car idles reasonably well; however, it idles at a low enough rate (under 750 RPM) to make the car vibrate unpleasantly when in Drive. It also tends to stall - or come very close to stalling - when I put it in gear after a cold start. I have performed the following attempts at remediation:
-Throttle body cleaning and adjustment
-Base idle adjustment
-Fuel pressure regulator replacement
-Transmission mount replacement
-Cleaning and retightening of injector ground wires
-IAC valve cleaning
-Replacement of spark plugs
Removing the fuse for the Lambda-Sond system and in-tank fuel pump causes no change in idle characteristics. Based on that, is it reasonable to suspect an issue with the in-tank pump? If not, what else might I attempt? Any and all advice would be very much appreciated.
