Persistent idle problems 700 1988

Maybe take the distributor cap off and check for any oily buildup inside due to a bad seal. Are you using bouricord (sp?) type plug wires? Normal crimped end wire connectors don't work well w/ the Volve distributor caps and cause weak sparks and misfires.
