Greetings all,
I have a 91 240 Wagon that I recently purchased. I quickly changed the oil and filter, plugs, cap and rotor. I have also changed the front brake pads, thermostat and flushed the coolant which was QUITE rusty. While driving last week I heard a knocking noise that I assumed was the result of using the wrong oil. The noise got louder right away, I heard a significant 'clack' sound before the engine cut out completely. I noticed a small amount of my new coolant on the ground and realized that perhaps what I was hearing was the waterpumps' last cry. When I towed the car home and parked it out front, the rest of the coolant poured out onto the ground.
The engine will not crank at all which makes me wonder if I can replace the pump and expect the car to run again. I have already ordered a HEPU from eeuroparts which arrived the next day. Amazing, but I wonder if I'm wasting my time. I'm in Maryland and it is cold out.
Is it possible that part of the pump is lodged in the block or something? If anyone has heard of this before, I would appreciate the feedback.
Thanks,
Aaron
