Wipers will not shut off: update 200 1989

I know you're all waiting for the outcome of my wiper problem. My daughter went over a bump and the front and rear wipers started and would not shut off. The relays were fine, and the stalk was checked OK. I noticed the front right headlight was dimmer than the other one. We found that the ground wires on the passenger fender had broken off. There are three wires on this ground and somehow it is required to shut off the wipers. Svensmaintainer was closest with the suggestion to check the ground wire at the control stalk.
