Hi!
I'm planning on visiting my parents for Christmas, so I put volvo load carriers for rails on my wife's v50.
One of the plastic clamps shattered before I got to 4 newton meters of force.
So, I took the remaining good roof rail, put it on my 1993 245. I put a tule luggage carrier on the built in roof rail (front) and the still-good volvo roof rail.
Question- will the built in load bars on the 245 bear the strain of the luggage carrier?
My guess is yes, but I don't think it is rated for the 100kg that the volvo removable load carriers are rated for.
Anyone know the rating for weight of the built in 245 roof system?
I'm worried all my clothes & presents are going to go flying off at highway speed.
Car is going to be pretty full with me, my wife, baby, and two dogs. I don't have a cargo gate, so I cant load above the back of the seat. This means the roof space is at a premium, but not at the expense of safety!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions/knowledge.
