I've been reading through the posts on the ignition, and read the Bentley, and I have to confess to complete overload!
Car cranks, but doesn't start. OBD code for speed (crank position, rpm) sensor signal and AMM signal. Cleared codes. Replaced speed sensor. All codes still clear (I understand it takes 10 minutes of running before some codes reregister... but it has to run first.)
Car still won't start. Mechanic said no spark at plug 1. Put battery on a charger, as it was a bit low from attempts to start over the previous week.
Checked distributor cap and rotor, cleaned them up. Checked fuse on the left fender, it isn't blown.
Went to Bentley, pulled ECU, carpet was wet, and I had ice covering the bottom 6 terminals, and corrosion. Dried, cleaned, and tried reinstalling it, no start. Went back to Bentley, and tested connector at terminal 14?(whichever Bentley directed) through the side for power to ECU (0.01 volts rarely, but not with any predictability).
My car is currently 50 miles away from me, and because I got it towed to the shop, I can't get it towed again until this problem is resolved, and the mechanic doesn't particularly like working on it AT ALL!
Electricity in general and ignition in particular overwhelms me, so I'm asking for baby steps... well, maybe toddler steps... on how to go through this...
Any help would be appreciated!
Also, anyone who knows a decent mechanic who doesn't hate Volvos around Batavia/Brockport/Medina NY area, and who is willing to work with a female who's a bit of a learning freak... I am open for suggestions!
Thank you!
