1989 Volvo 240 will not start. 200 1989

I cleaned the throttle body yesterday. I started the car and it idled smoother with the throttle body cleaned. I went back out to start the car two hour later and it would not start. It turns over, gas is getting to the spark plugs. I removed the spark plug wire from the center of the distributor cap and placed it next to metal as my wife tried to start the car. No arch or spark showed up. Has the ignition coil gone bad? Is there a speed sensor that has gone bad? Any ideas? Thanks.
