Approximate cost for Main and front seals to be repaired 200

Greetings,

I just took my 91 245 in for an oil change and was told that not only the rear main seal needed to be replaced but also the front seals, plus possibly clean or replace the flame trap. I have been using the synthetic blend oil, but the mechanic put in synthetic. The next day there was an excessive amount of oil on the drive. (to find out when I took the car back, they didn't remove the shield so the oil from the filter was left in the shield.) This is when the owner of the shop told me about the leaking seals. I change the oil every 3,000 even using the synthetic blend, she has 167,000 miles on her, and the mechanic advised me as it would be a day of labor costing approximately 800.00
I tried to research costs of this, and recall a post from the past from someone who switched to synthetic and the car began to leak?..I could not find it again. I appologize up front for skipping around a bit..but I'm a bit takin back by the cost, If anyone can let me know if this sounds reasonable It would truely help me. Thanks so much in Advance!!
