Backup Light Not Coming On 200

I noticed that my backup light does not always come on to illuminate the area when I put my 1991 240 in reverse. Sometimes, if I move the shifter slightly forward towards "P" (park), the light will come on and flicker like there is some sort of loose connection, but won't stay on. Any idea as to what might be going on? Thanks.
