I have owned 240's (three). I'm trying to replace one with another car that I can do the maintenance on...I've gotten used to the timing belt work, front end, motor mounts, etc on the 240 maintenance schedule....so I started looking at 940's because it's the same engine transmission. The other day I met a man that was driving a S90 and he said that his car was rear wheel drive. I was a bit excited because I thought since 1994-"ish" that Ford had corrupted the Volvo's with front wheel drive stuff. This guy said that the S90 was a great car. I asked him if the car had a interference engine ...he said that if the timing belt broke, that it would damage the engine (unlike the 4 cylinder engines). Other than that...are there any other drawbacks (or benefits) to the 4 cylinder engine/tranny vs the S90 engine? Thanks for the info.
