I had been dinking around with the aluminum fuses that my local parts box store carried, and was constantly having to fiddle with the odd fuse to maintain contact. I had been using a brass bristle brush to clean the contact strips, and using dialectric grease on them, all being marginally successful.
I finally broke down and ordered one of the big copper fuse kits that is occasionally seen on e-bay. Boy, what a difference! things that used to work most of the time, now work all the time, and the odd thing is that things such as the power windows now move faster than they have in years.
We drove over nearly to Daytona this evening, and on the way back, the wife remarked that the car seemed smoother to her. Is it our imiganition, or does having the correct amount of current actually make the old car run smoother? Will the conductivity of these fuses last longer than did those made from aluminum? Anyone have any ideas on this one?
