Hello All:
Second thread on this topic. The car wouldn't start yesterday AM. I checked the timing belt, it's OK and just 8K on it. The tach would bounce on cranking, and there is spark, as evidenced by a spark tester on #2 plug. This has me suspecting the fuel system. I swapped an FPR, even though there was no evidence of a ruptured diaphragm. No change. I swapped the fuel system relay-- no change.
There didn't seem to be much fuel pressure when I disconnected the FPR, so John Sargent suggested it was the main fuel pump. This AM I can hear the pump run when the key is turned initially. It sounds fine, but I'd like to jumper the fuel system relay and run the pump to check for flow (no gauge).
The 700/900FAQ entry sounds suspicious-- the pin layout described there doesn't match the relay pin configuration. I don't want to blow anything up.
Anybody out there who can enlighten me about how to take the relay out of the equation and just make the fuel pump run?
Thanks!
