High pitched noise 200 1992

1992 240 Wagon GLE - Car has this high pitched whine that is not related to the engine i.e. constant does not change on acceleration. Some times it is more noticable than others but is always there. Cannot see any patern to this change. Sound seems to be comming from under the car not from the engine. I cant really get any closer to identifying the spot then that. Ther noise is so high that it appears to be every where. Anyone have any ideas ??
