Hi folks, this is my second post tonight (this morning?).

My 740GLE has great mileage - 20-23 in mixed city/hwy driving - passed NC inspection at the end of January when I bought it used - but there's a bit of a shudder in the idle when warm or cold.

Every 5 seconds or so when in park (it's an automatic) I can hear a shudder, but from no defined area of the engine. I can't detect the problem when inside the car with the windows rolled up - the shudder doesn't translate into the passenger compartment.

My folks' Honda Accord does this too, from time to time, when there's a greater electrical pull from the lights and radio. And I have noticed on my Volvo that when I turn the lights and radio off, it diminishes but is still noticeable.

The shudder isn't enough to make the tach surge or drop (unlike the Honda) - I've checked.

Any thoughts, Volvo-dudes?
