Hello,
My metal fuel tank has a very small hairline crack in the bottom of it that creates an expensive dripping gas leak. I've used several different types of Autozone fixes over the years, but they typically last only months before the leak works its way around the gray putty substance that virtually all automotive fuel tank fixes use. Is there anything out there that works better? Some type of caulk, glue, putty, cement or something? I use an amber wax stick to stop leaks before applying the grey putty stuff, so allowing for cure time is not an issue as the gasoline is not dripping out when whatever sealing substance is applied. I tried JB Weld, but that didn't do the job. I'd rather not remove the tank, have it welded, or replaced as that could get expensive. If anyone knows of any kind of sealing substance that will hold up to a gasoline leak and stick and harden firmly to metal, your suggestions would be appreciated.
