Engine mounts and driveline stuff (long newbie stuff) 700 1987

Hi guys,

In a little while it'll be warm enough to do my big tune-up. I'm getting some jackstands from a friend, and wanted some advice about other equipment required for the repairs I want to do.

I want to replace:

Transmission mount (AW automatic)
Engine mounts (maybe - they look cracked)
What's the deal with rubber vs. hydraulic engine mounts?

Also:

Check universal joints (chirping)
Check differential oil and change it if necessary
Check transmission bushings (I know very little about these!)

With these 'check' items, what parts should I have on hand?

Also on the itinerary are drive belts and timing belt, with the CH tool. And I'll see if I can find the flame trap!

Question: I've read about how changes from one type of oil to another can make your seals leak. I plan to do an oil change while I have the car up on the jackstands, and wondered if I ought to go ahead and change the seals while I have the timing cover open, since I really don't know what kind of oil is in the car now. I'm open to suggestions for a good 10w30 that NA B230s like.

Thanks!

Ari

Now all I have to do is figure out how to pay for my repair list. >)
