York A/C compressor installation 200

Got a rebuilt York to install. The compressor came "dry", without oil.
The generic instructions with the compressor only mention adding oil
through the suction port. There's no mention of removing the plug
and adding oil to the compressor crankcase. Isn't it necessary to put
oil into the crankcase on a York?
