I've had my '82 240 for about 6 years. They are solid cars, but there has been a few maintenance issues.
- cam bearing froze and broke the timing belt
- fuel relay failed (twice)
- OD solenoid quit (but might be revived now)
- main fuel pump failed
- wiring to main pump fried and had to be fixed
- wiring to ignition coil failed
I love the car with it's 250k miles, but wonder what should I look for as the next weak point? It has a new wiring harness in the engine. Burns some oil.
I'm thinking the in-tank pre-pump. Should I wait for it to go, or be proactive and swap it out?
I've read the forum for years so know some of the weak points of these bricks. Just wondering if there was any more advice.
