The fuel gauge rarely works on my 1993 940 turbo. I've looked through the FAQ but the description of the fuel float assembly doesnt seem to match mine.
I've just got this 940 on a UK K plate but kept the dash console from my old 1991 940 turbo and today looked at swopping them over to check it wasnt just the petrol gauge at fault. The connections look slightly different on the back of the consoles and i'm hesitant to just plug it in to try, does anyone know if its just a question of plugging in what i can? I tried just swopping the petrol gauge over on its own but even that is slightly different with a slightly longer circuit board at the bottom. There doesnt seem to any problem with the flexible circuit board. does anyone know how to check whether the gauge alone works or how to test on the back of the console with a multitester while hanging over the steering wheel with the ignition on?
Many thanks for any ideas.
Going by the newish wiring crimps on the sender unit in the boot I'd say someone has tried to solve the problem the expensive way at some time, probably unsucessfully.
Oh, sometimes the gauge works when the sun's really heated the car up inside (twice so far in the UK).
