Modifications to engine mounts 200 1985

I am about to replace my engine mounts. I bought the Myele set, and have been thinking about protecting the rubber part of these mounts from any oil contamination especially during oil changes. I have an idea of making a shield out of something such as a tin can that I would cut to length, and with the correct holes drilled in the end, would allow the rubber mount to be completely covered, and therefore protected from any oil contamination such as we get when removing the oil filter. Does anyone have any ideas on this, or am I just spitting into the wind with this?

Bill
