I've just equipped my 1982 wagon with Daytime Running Lights using Mr. Lucid's excellent modification, which can be found seaching "DRL Lucid" in the archives. A very neat solution, which I likewise prefer to daytime use of headlights for same.
The contacts I used came from damaged turn signals in the boneyard. My car already had the holes in place for the additional bulb contact; I used tiny brass bolts and nuts, later crimped in place to prevent loosening, to hold them in place.
While I had the lights/reflectors out of the car I lined their no-longer-reflective surfaces with reflective aluminum tape meant for duct work to improve their brightness. I also added, although completely unnecessary, a switch and relay so that I can turn them off sometimes. I guess I like switches. For this purpose I used a fog light switch with pilot light.
Very happy with the results!
