Hi folks,

My AW70L transmission slips noisily when I have it in a drive gear and exceed 2400 RPM or so. I've used the kickdown cable to suppress my shift points (~1950-2100 RPM) enough to avoid any audible slipping. Flush, Lucas, etc. has not helped.

I'm a little confused about why my transmission behaves as it does. If you all don't mind answering a few questions, I'd be grateful.

Since this is a 'forward gear' thing, am I correct in thinking only one or two of my clutch packs is worn?

Since my transmission makes noise prior to a hard (delayed) shift, can I also assume that there may be low pressure inside the valve bodies? Or, alternately, that a clutch pack is too worn to engage completely during a hard shift?

Why would a lower engine speed/throttle pressure keep the slipping under control?

I had my (gross) tranny filter changed to try to solve a mini-me version of this problem, and it solved it - for two weeks, and then it became much worse. Could the new filter have become clogged by 100k miles of gunk in the tranny being freed by this procedure? (I did a full flush 250 miles AFTER this procedure.)
