As I continue to resurrect my '67 wagon, I am now on the brakes and wheel assemblies.
Pulled the drums - btw used a puller and a hammer w/o too much difficulty. Also enjoyed reading the posts about the "boiling kettle" method! And I really appreciate the advice given regarding keeping the castle nut on during removal.
OK, now for my Qs:
Rear drums are badly scored and took them to a local mechanic I trust to turn them, or tell me they are toast.
The spindle on his lathe is too big. Can the drum be separated from the hub piece? Looks like maybe whacking the the lug studs (with protective lugs installed) might separate them? Or are they one unit and this is impossible?
Second Q applies once these are separated and/or I mind someone with a smaller-spindled lathe: Is there a minimum thickness for the drum lining? None was listed in Haynes.
Thanks to all in advance,
Richard
