1991 940SE Code 232, and Gas Smell in the car 900 1991

Hi, my Check engine light just came on... checked for codes on pin 2, got a 232. Pin 6 shows no codes. Seemed to drive ok, and had to take it on a 100 mile trip, a few miles into the trip I started to smell gas in the car, I had just filled up, but with the newly set code, it has me concerned. The smell seemed to come and go throughout the trip.

Any advise on where to look first?
