1983 760 Turbodiesel Fuel Tank leak 700

Hi Guys:

Looks like my 1983 760 Turbodiesel fuel tank is leaking slightly. With the price of diesel, I need to stop this.

It appears to be a steel tank. Not like the later plastic tanks. What's the best way of working on this? I think it's got the tank extender, on top. Can I gain access to the top of the tank through the trunk? (To check the hoses).
