Yet Another OD Troubleshooting Question 200 1991

Hi Everyone,

Newbie here with limited car repair knowledge.

I have a 1991 240 Auto that will intermittently shift into OD (only about 10% success rate lately). I have read through a dozen threads on this board & got some great info already. Here's the current situation:

1) OD button & Arrow light seem to work, and when I press OD button I can hear the OD Relay click on & off, and the arrow goes on & off accordingly.

2) As per other threads' instructions, I took out the OD Relay and re-soldered all points, except the 8 pins for the IC chip since I didn't want to chance frying it.

At the moment I don't have anything that will measure voltage/current/continuity, so I did not check fuse #11 yet. (Is it safe to assume it's good based on Arrow light working & OD Relay clicking?)

My question is, does it seem like it's time to crawl under the car to check solenoid & wire? Or is there more I should check beforehand? (for example I'm not sure if I need to rip open the gear shift & OD switch area to check wires if it's an Auto tranny)

Thanks a bunch!
