240 versus 850

We are buying a new used Volvo. I have found a 95 850 Turbo wagon with 42000, one owner, in excellent shape. I also found a 2 owner 240 with 120,000 for about half the cost (3500-4000) instead of 7500-8000 for hte 850. I enjoy the comfort of the 850 but the 240 seems to have a reputation for lasting longer, better, and less cost? Is this true? I am not a mechanic. I welcome the opinions and thoughts of those who know Volvo's. 240 vs. 850?
