chainsaw method (fan motor replacement) - what would you do next time? 200 1993

I am really considering Don Foster's quick method for replacing the fan motor - I just don't have much extra time right now. If you've done this method - how did it work out for you and how much time did it actually save you? I've done the long method before and it took me about 8 hours as I recall. I think I could do it again in about 5 or 6 hours. Also, are the resistors prone to failure in the later models? I've never actually had one of those fail on me and was not intending to replace it.

Your comments would be appreciated.
