I have a high idle problem w/ my '88 244GL. I tried to reset it this morning and I was able to set the idle at the spec'd 700 RPMs with the IAC grounded via the blue/white wire per the Green manuals. She idled rough at this RPM. When I disconnected the ground the idle went back up to 1000 RPMs after stumbling for about 2 seconds. The idle stays at 1000 RPMs no matter what I do. According to the manuals the idle should go back up to 750 RPMs. I have replaced all the vaccuum lines and intake gaskets along with a new o2 sensor. The IAC is clean and tested as working. I even swapped another IAC from my '88 245DL to confirm this. I'm not sure why I can't get the idle to settle down. She idles smooth but higher than spec'd.
MAF is a known good unit. She has a new accordian intake hoses. I recently cleaned the PVC system and flame trap.
I'm thinking it's a vaccuum leak somewhere that I'm overlooking.
Any ideas?
