Power steering pump shaft seal replacement

I know I asked a while back about rebuilding a power steering pump But has anyone just replaced the shaft seal and can you leave the pump on the engine? I have the seal and can get the use of a pulley puller so is that possible on a 85 B21 engine? The pump is on top of the a/c unit and looks easy to get at.Does the seal go on the shaft after removing pulley? Thanks for any help,Charlie P.S. I have looked for one in the PandP but can't find one of the older one's like mine.
