Bit O' Seepage from water pump 700 1991

There is a tiny bit of seepage from the water pump in my '91 745T. Over the course of a few weeks to a month, it will loose around 1/4" of coolant from the tank. Maybe once a week, after it has had a chance to cool down fully, it will leave a drop or two of coolant on the floor of the garage.

The water pump is only 3 1/2 years old, and is a genuine Volvo pump.

The pressure cap is a 150kPa green cap, the high pressure one.

I figure "better safe than sorry" and will replace the pump. It is easy enough.

The car recently had a head gasket replaced, and there was a problem with cylinder gasses escaping into the cooling system prior to the head gasket replacement. So I figure there might be some damage to the seals in the pump.

I'm also going to replace all (Oh, God . . . $$$$$$$) the hoses in the cooling system. Using genuine Volvo replacements too.

Am I being too cautious about the pump? Or do you guys think my reasoning is sound and good?

Thanks,
Scott
