Amp Meter response to headlights 200 1985

To all you electrical wizards....Please explain to me how the amp pull in a Bosch system works when the headlights are turned on...Headlights are turned on and amp meter dips below the 12:00 position to the 11:00/10:00 position..No lights amp meter reads normal straight up or maybe a little past north...Car charges and discharges normally charge at battery is normal (13.5)..I read somewhere that this is normal...Electrically everything is fine new battery...Alt charges fine...Help me understand Bosch thinking...
