octane vs fuel consumption 900

Since the hiking of the gas price, I have been putting in 87 octane gas to my 940 instead of the recommend 91 octane. Would the lower octane fuel affect the fuel consumption of the car? If yes, how much negative effect I am going to see here? Thanks.
