Dash Replacement 780 Bertone 700 1987

Im a glutton for punishment and have adopted my 4th Bertone and my 7th Volvo.

This particular Swed-Ital has her issues (she's a bioharness beauty, has a PRV - I know, I know, the motor from hell - but with only 90K on her - and hey, I had another PRV that logged 293,000 before she got retired due to a burnt valve!!! and the 6 has more low end torque), BUT - the problem Im addressing here is this particular car ranks in the top 3 of what has to be the very WORST dashboard Ive ever seen (think parked unattended for 20 years in the Arizona Desert Sun!

SO - Question(s) - I do want to replace it - cracked in countless places - It's currently the "chocolate Milk" color - but I dont mind goin black - or even a different shape (think 740/ 940)...

First Question: Would a 740/760/ or "900" series" Dash fit? I realize this would mean changing the glovebox, and foregoing the termite bait (burlwood) but im ok with that`- and likely a 740 or 760 or 9 may be more readilly available.

Next: Has anyone (successfully) changed a dash??? I did it twice in a Maserati Bi-turbo) LONG story about the 2X kind-of a funny one too - I know its not a project for the faint of heart - took me about 3 hrs the first time (and half that the second) - just wondered what Im up against in the 780.

Has anyone checked to see if any Volv dlr has any new old stock dash kits left for a 780????

Helpful hints from those who have ACTUALLY performed this surgery (no armchair speculators thanks) would be GREATLY appreciated!

Cheers!
