Yesterday, I removed the Idle Air Valve and cleaned it. It worked like a champ until mid day today, and the symptoms were the same (high engine speed at about 1500 RPM no load idle). I ordered a new one, and it should be here on Monday. On the old one, I can tap the housing with a screwdriver handle, and the idle will drop to 700, and will hold until the engine is revved up again, and it will go back to the high idle speed. I talked with the tech at FCP Groton, and he says that it's the valve that has finally given up the ghost. I wish I had a pick and pull nearby, but I don't, and the local salvage yard won't even take a Brick, and if they are forced to, it goes to the crusher immediately. Thankfully, I repositioned the hose clamps to where I can reach them with the hoses installed on the intake manifold, and the intake tube.
