I picked up a super clean 1994 940 about a year ago and like most cars 14 years old there are a few things that need fixed. My current problem has to do with the tape cassette drive in the CR-718 radio. It has a stripped gear and therefore won't work. Does anyone know who makes the radio and or the cassette drive. If I can figure that out I may be able to find a source for repair parts. My other possibility is to go to the local Pick-Your-Part and try to find a car with a radio to pull. In that regard it seems in looking at Volvo radios that the tape cassette may be common across a few different models of radio. Does anyone have any information in that regard? I know I could pick up a replacement radio from Crutchfield, et al, but I like the idea of keeping my Volvo "all Volvo".
Second question. I also have a 1990 740GL and I usually get around 27-29 mpg with that car while the newer 1994 940 only seems to get around 25 mpg. Anybody know whether this is to be expected or could there be something that still needs tweaked on the newer Volvo.
Thanks in advance,
Guy P.
