I drove my girlfriend to the airport today and when I stopped for gas I noticed smoke coming from under the hood. I popped the hood and my engine was covered in oil !! I cleaned up what I could and added 3 quarts of oil( the dipstick was almost dry !)I have had a small oil leak that leaves a quarter sized puddle in the driveway.
I brought it to my local mechanic and asked if he could see where the oil was coming from and fix whatever seal was leaking,I think it is the cam seal as the timing belt cover was soaked too.I didn't have time to investigate as I was already late for work. when I stopped by the gararge on my lunch break the tech had my car running with the idle up a bit but no oil was leaking.
I am waiting for him to call me with the diagnosis.
I did get stuck in my driveway as we had 12-14 inches of snow here in Maine and I had to rev the engine pretty high this morning to get unstuck.
I always clean the flame trap when I change the oil and I keep an eye on the oil level as my idiot light is non functional. If I didn't stop for gas things could have been way worse !
Sorry for the ramble...
