Hi. I've always used a small dab of antiseize paste (but no oil) on the dried/cleaned threads of the bolts holding the timing gears, but I recently got into a chat with a couple of guys who agreed that this is definitely wrong, but disagreed on the lube to use: one said that ordinary motor oil is fine, and the other that only "assembly oil" should be used.
I know that antiseize might cause my tightening to be a little off-spec (viz the tightening torques that I use), but I didn't think they'd be so wrong that I should worry. Should I be worried about my past jobs?
I'm about to do another timing belt and seals job on one of my '93s, and so I figure it's a good time to ask for opinions.
Thanks all.
