clutch cable hole position in firewall 200 1989

Hi all,

I have started converting my '89 240 from AW71 to an M47.
I used a doner car from a friend, took all the parts typical for this job, and also a new clutch, bearing, and cable, and a couple seals while I was there. The other car has now been junked.

I have installed the pedal assembly.

My next step is to drill the hole for the cable. I have found photos to show me the position, they are referenced from the left of a diamond shaped cap with two bolts on the firewall to the right of the master cylinder. Problem is on my car - I do not have this diamond shaped two bolt cover. The space to the right of the master cylinder is pretty much empty.

Can anyone provide me with a clear photo or diagram or measurement of where the hole is exactly? I want to do it from the engine firewall side, I have a right angle drill and hole saw bit for metal at the appropriate diameter, just need to X mark the spot!

Thanks in advance,
