I have posted this problem before, but I could not come to a conclusion. Perhaps someone had the same problem, solved and can shine a light on this.
The tires are Michelin with the recommended size. Michelin tires are a bit more rounder wall than other tires with more straight wall and this may be a problem. What is completely strange is that the car only rub the tires on the struts at very low speed when coming to a stop. I can go 60 mph on the hwy, slam on the brakes and nothing happens. I can go slower than a person walking, stop the car and the tires will rub.
There is a 1/2 inch space from the tire to the strut when the car is stationary. I can push the car up and down to make the suspension move and the space remain 1/2 inch. A shop here suggested new struts, but the strut half way down to the brake assembly is all one bolted solid piece. I can have busted bushings, worn ball joints, bad springs and seats and that assembly will still be solid and moving all at once with the wheel.
I can't explain this or I am missing something as big as an elephant.
