740 1st gear shift rumba from dead stop... Suggestions for assistance - thanks much!

I have checked through generous amounts of 700 faq, but feel that with this particular problem, I might best post a detail of the symptoms for a more accurate diagnosis.
HISTORY:
1988 74 GLE Wagon. 149k. AW transmission. Previous owner installed drive shaft incorrect resulting in excessive vibration, and subsequent destruction of tail shaft bushing, seal, and rounding out of tail shaft housing and also moderate galling to flange shaft itself. Previous owner drove vehicle in this condition until the trans fluid leaked sufficiently to the point where the car lost power on the freeway and came to a complete stop (engine would rev – without locomotion). I purchased the car one week later, changed out tailshaft housing and flange – noting spline shaft endplay at approx 1/8 inch + (slightly more than the donor trans that I removed the good tailshaft housing from). Reinstalled drive shaft correct alignment. Also changed the trans filter and pan gasket. Initial fluid drained from the system had a unhealthy amount of very tiny metallic aluminum particulate – (most likely from the rounding of the tailshaft area). Two magnets in pan bottom had minor/moderate amounts of metallic clinging – normal by standards of good working AW trans I have maintained previously. I subsequently ran 2 full flushes of 10 quarts each. Fluid now appears clean, and healthy.
PROBLEM:
Car runs and shifts fine from cold start in 30 degree weather we’re currently having. After 5 minutes the notorious 1-2 hard shift becomes evident (which I can live with). After 10 minutes or so, the problem presents where if I accelerate from a complete stop, the trans will jerk/shift – as if it is quickly shifting back and forth from 1st to 2nd in hard shift fashion – a relative violent motion -sometimes 3-4-5 times in very quick succession. Once I get the vehicle moving about 4-5 mph, it functions normal once again. NOTE: I am able to alleviate this issue, by manually shifting from 1st to 2nd without any jerking problem. As incidental info, I have adjusted the throttle kick down from full forward to back at 1 turn increments with not much noticeable difference. Probably works a little better with cable slacked out a tiny bit.
I am thankful for any assistance or suggestions in advance.
Best Regards,
Craig
