alternator belt/ tensioner question... 700 1987

i recently replaced all three belts from my 87 740 and every belt except the alternator belt is giving me a problem. the belt i bought was from the dealer so it has to be the right one... well im tightening the bolt tensioner all the time and i dont wanna break it so im wondering what im doing wrong....plus i replaced the top 2 bushings... can someone help thanks
