Any comments? Will it fail?

I find myself with a spin-flange cat and a choice between a 16-year old, very cracked, spin-flange header pipe, and a 3 year-old, good-as-new, fixed-flange header pipe. My father is welding up the spin-flange pipe as I type, but...I'd rather use the one that didn't need any welding.
